Terms of use ยท updated October 9, 2026

Use transcripts responsibly.

By using Captionly, you agree to use the service lawfully and only with content you are permitted to access and process.

Service scope and availability

Captionly attempts to retrieve accessible caption tracks for supported public videos. Caption availability, wording, languages, and upstream access are controlled by YouTube and video publishers, so uninterrupted access or a result for every URL cannot be guaranteed.

Your responsibilities

You are responsible for the URLs you submit, required permissions, and any transcript material you publish, quote, or redistribute. Downloading a caption track does not transfer copyright or create a license to reuse the underlying content.

Prohibited use

Do not use Captionly for unlawful infringement, privacy abuse, harmful automation, credential theft, bypassing access restrictions, excessive automated requests, disruption of the service, or attempts to discover protected infrastructure credentials.

Accuracy

Creator-uploaded and automatic captions can contain errors or omissions. Verify important quotations, names, numbers, research, legal language, and accessibility deliverables against the original video.

Service changes

Features, limits, supported formats, and upstream availability may change to maintain reliability, security, or compliance. Continued use after a published update means you accept the revised terms.
